In 2022, Chris & Jade had the hairbrained idea to take over the old picture theatre in Dimbulah which had been vacant for 25 years with the aim of revitalising it and providing a new offer for the community. The Crew House was born and with it the Crew House Cafe. Pictured - Mel, Jade, Casey & Chris
Building a commercial cafe from scratch in a picture theatre that had been closed for 25 years isn't the usual way of going about things but Chris and Jade had a vision and set out to create a unique offer for Dimbulah and the surrounding communities. It's aimed at being a community hub and somewhere old memories can be talked about and new memories made. Food, drink and great people are usually the three key pieces to most really fond memories. This is what we've set out to provide.
As a local meeting place, Jade and her trusty offsiders (Casey, Mel, Meika, Scout and any number of volunteers on big events) help provide food which is not only enjoyed but takes us back to simpler times with home cooked meals. Most of us have very fond memories of home cooked meals - from childhood, to adolescence and adult hood. We all have favourite meals and usually they're always a home cooked recipe we grew up loving.
Crew House Cafe uses the same love and attention to detail in our cooking to hopefully take you back to those same fond memories. Jade has Australian, Italian and Croatian background and draws on all her learnings from weekends growing up preparing and cooking food with her Nanna's and Nonna to bring nostalgia and nutrition to you, whether that be in person or at delivered to your door. Simple meals cooked really well for your enjoyment, that's our aim!
