Our Story

With a passion for fresh, quality produce, seasonal eating, and supporting local suppliers, Dougie and Bel are excited to bring you The Grub Club catering and home delivery food service. We look forward to feeding you!

Owner Paul 'Dougie' Douglas has had 30 years of experience as a chef, beginning his career working in some of London's top fine dining restaurants before travelling to New Zealand and Australia, where he continued to gain experience in the hospitality industry. In Melbourne, Dougie met Belinda Smullen, a Communication Designer and fellow hospitality lover.

In 2011 Dougie and Bel teamed up to launch their first venture, The General Food Store, followed by Incy Wincy in 2017, and Bam Bam Italian the same year which has since been sold so they can focus on new ideas. Over the years, their customers requested more of their hospitality, so the desire to provide the region with new food experiences was born. 

After fighting tooth and nail to keep their venues alive, and team in jobs throughout the pandemic, Dougie, Bel, and their teams pivoted each venue during lockdowns by delivering chilled ready-made meals and providore goods to their customers. After a post-lockdown hiatus, Dougie and Bel have redeveloped this service into their new venture, The Grub Club. They are featuring all the best food from across their venues over the years and rolling it into a home delivery service for their customers to enjoy as part of their weekly meals, when they are hosting events, or whenever they need an extra hand with meal preparation.

How it works

  • Weekly menu emails are sent to subscribers each Friday morning containing a curated list of The Grub Club's selected meals for the week.

  • Meals and providore items will vary each week and are designed to make it easier for you and your family to eat fresh, nutritious meals.

  • Orders close each Sunday at 11.59pm. Choose to either pick up your order from The General Food Store Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, or have your order delivered to you each Thursday between 10am–4.30pm.

  • You don't need to be home when we deliver – you can nominate somewhere safe for us to leave the meals, or leave an Eski outside for us to place your order into.
